MAC Federal Credit Union’s MAC PAC recognized for community involvement.
Fairbanks, AK — Each year, the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce presents the George Nehrbas Volunteer of the Year Award to an outstanding community volunteer. This year it was awarded to the MAC PAC, the volunteer organization of MAC Federal Credit Union.
MAC PAC encourages employees to volunteer by being flexible with work schedules and searching for volunteer opportunities in the community to match the employee with local needs.
In 2021 there were 618 volunteer hours logged by employees, in 2022, there were over 1,275 hours. Not only is time given, but so are monetary contributions. Employees chose to donate $15 from every paycheck and select where to use or donate the funds. Although this award was specifically for contributions to the Fairbanks area, MAC PAC operates at all MAC Federal Credit Union locations—Fairbanks, Fort Wainwright, Wasilla, and Palmer—and endeavors to work alongside organizations that serve the local community.
“Several years ago, our CEO Angela Head, had a dream of creating an internal volunteer organization. From that dream, thousands of hours of volunteer efforts in our communities have been performed by MAC staff members, families, friends, and others in our communities. MACPAC is much more than just the time that is spent.” -Sabrina Webb, MAC PAC Executive Sponsor and Facilitator.
MAC PAC is the only employee-funded volunteer group in the state of Alaska.
